Owners Emily and Finnegan bring extensive experience in hospitality and piloting from their years on some of Europe’s most exclusive luxury barges, to make your week cruising on Saraphina the perfect holiday.

Saraphina is a Dutch barge, built in 1924. She is 25 meters (82 feet) long and 4 meters wide (12 feet) . Finnegan converted the barge in 2007.  She cruises between Portiragnes plage and the majestic medieval city of Carcassonne, the locks at Beziers, the winding grand bief (big pound) with beautiful views and pretty villages.

Aboard Saraphina you have a wonderful culinary experience awaiting you during your stay. Emily is dedicated to creating diverse and delicious menus that showcase the freshest seafood and local specialties. Whether you prefer a crisp Sauvignon or a rich Syrah, there is a selection that complements every dish perfectly.

The dining experience is a top priority, you can enjoy your four-course evening meal in the cozy wheelhouse, or on the sun deck, each providing a unique atmosphere. A significant portion of the produce comes directly from Emily’s vegetable garden which adds an extra layer of authenticity and sustainability to the dining experience.

Guests can enjoy the freshest vegetables and herbs, knowing they were grown locally and with care and demonstrates a commitment to eco-friendly practices and reducing the carbon footprint. It’s a beautiful way to connect with nature and showcase the region’s seasonal produce in Emily’s dishes. Additionally, the accommodation for dietary requests shows our commitment to catering to individual preferences and needs, making sure everyone can enjoy the experience.

Cabin Details …

Saraphina offers two spacious and very different cabins. Take a step back in time in Cabin Iona which retains its 1924 charm with original features. We have tried to keep this cabin as traditional as possible which gives you the idea of how the original crew lived onboard in 1924.

Cabin Ysee is contemporary, modern, light and airy. For your comfort this cabin can be made up as a twin or queen size bed. Both cabins include bath towels, bath robes, hairdryers and complimentary toiletries. The entire boat benefits from air conditioning.

Both cabins have private en-suite bathrooms, air conditioning and hanging space and shelves for your belongings. As you slowly wake up in the morning, your hosts will be preparing coffee and breakfast for you. Open your curtains to a new place and another day of discovery.
