Discover the rich landscape of Burgundy aboard Magnolia, as it cruises along the meandering Canal du Bourgogne through the picturesque Ouche valley. Magnolia’s owners, Magali and Nicolas Rancelot, have years of experience in the hotel barging industry. They will ensure your comfort and well-being throughout your stay onboard the Magnolia. They are happy to share their love of barging with you, making your vacation a unique experience.
Magnolia is a spacious barge, originally built in 1956 and converted into a luxury hotel barge in 2014. Designed with both comfort and contemporary style, Magnolia offers a large lounge and dinning room, equipped with TV, DVD, library, iPod dock, and Wifi . There are accommodations for up to 6 guests in two double-bedded cabins, and a twin or double-bedded suite, each with large ensuite bathroom.
Two sundecks, one with deck furniture and outside demonstration kitchen, the second one has a spa and is accessible directly from the cabins corridor. Bicycles are provided to explore this beautiful region of France, or Magnolia’s qualified tour guide will drive you in the mini-van to visit historical châteaux, famous vineyards, and the fascinating towns and villages of Burgundy.
Saturday, day one – Vandenesse:
Guests are picked up in Paris at 2.30 pm and transferred with a private coach to the barge moored in Vandenesse
Welcome drink on board, presentation of the boat and the crew. Dinner on board.
Sunday, day two – Vandenesse to Pont d’Ouche:
Morning visit to Chateauneuf en Auxois, visit of the 12th century castle and its medieval village. Lunch onboard.
Afternoon cruise to Pont d’Ouche, walking and cycling opportunities (11 locks).
« Home hosted « dinner at Magali’s parents.
Monday, day three – Pont d’Ouche to La Bussière:
Morning cruise to La Bussière (6 locks). Lunch in Beaune.
Afternoon visit of Beaune, the wine capital of Burgundy, guided tour of the charity hospital from the 15th century, free time for shopping.
Dinner onboard.
Tuesday, day four – La Bussière to Lock 34:
After breakfast, we drive to Dijon to explore the capital of the dukes and its rich and colored market with our chef who will help guests choosing their lunch and prepare it on board “à la plancha” on our outdoor kitchen.
Lunch on board and afternoon cruise to La Bussière (8 locks).
Dinner at lock 34, an authentic lock house reconverted into a welcoming « guinguette » where you will discover the owner’s original cuisine in a warm atmosphere.
Wednesday, day five – Lock 34 to Fleurey
Morning cruise to Fleurey (8 locks).
Lunch at the “Petit Repère du Goût” in Fleurey sur Ouche.
Afternoon wine tasting in Chambolle Musigny to taste prestigious wines and then drive around the most famous vineyards of the Côtes de Nuits.
Dinner on board.
Thursday, day six – Fleurey to Plombières:
Morning visit to l’Or des Valois, a truffle farm where we will experience truffle hunting with dogs.
Lunch at the truffle farm.
Afternoon cruise to Plombières (8 locks) Farewell dinner on board.
Friday, day seven – Plombières:
After breakfast, around 9.00 am, guests are transferred to Paris with a private coach.
