Discover the rich landscape of Burgundy aboard Magnolia, as it cruises along the meandering Canal du Bourgogne through the picturesque Ouche valley. Magnolia’s owners, Magali and Nicolas Rancelot, have years of experience in the hotel barging industry. They will ensure your comfort and well-being throughout your stay onboard the Magnolia. They are happy to share their love of barging with you, making your vacation a unique experience.
Magnolia is a spacious barge, originally built in 1956 and converted into a luxury hotel barge in 2014. Designed with both comfort and contemporary style, Magnolia offers a large lounge and dinning room, equipped with TV, DVD, library, iPod dock, and Wifi . There are accommodations for up to 6 guests in two double-bedded cabins, and a twin or double-bedded suite, each with large ensuite bathroom.
Two sundecks, one with deck furniture and outside demonstration kitchen, the second one has a spa and is accessible directly from the cabins corridor. Bicycles are provided to explore this beautiful region of France, or Magnolia’s qualified tour guide will drive you in the mini-van to visit historical châteaux, famous vineyards, and the fascinating towns and villages of Burgundy.
Saturday, Day 1 Chalon-sur-Saone
Pickup at 2:00 pm from Paris, Geneva, or Lyon for your transfer to the barge, moored on the Saône River in Chalon-sur-Saône. Enjoy a welcome drink and meet the crew with a brief introduction. Dinner will be served on board.
Sunday, Day 2 Chalon-sur-Saone to Fragnes
Start your day with truffle hunting at “La Maison des Mille Truffes” and a delightful truffle-themed lunch at the farm. In the afternoon, enjoy a scenic cruise to Fragnes on the Saône River, passing through a lock with a 30-foot elevation change. End your day with dinner on board.
Monday, Day 3 Fragnes to Rully
The day begins with a delightful morning cruise to Rully, where you can enjoy the serene views. For lunch, savor a delicious meal on board as you continue your journey. In the afternoon, a visit to a cooper near Beaune offers insight into the traditional craft of barrel making. The evening culminates with a home-hosted dinner, where you’ll share a meal with a local family in Rully, accompanied by your guide, providing a warm and authentic experience.
Tuesday, Day 4 Rully to Chagny
Begin your day with an exclusive and prestigious wine tasting at the Château de Meursault. For lunch, savor a delightful meal on board, enjoying the ambiance and views. In the afternoon, experience a scenic cruise to Chagny, taking in the beautiful surroundings. Conclude your day by dining at a local restaurant in Chagny, where you can enjoy a delicious dinner.
Wednesday, Day 5 Chagny to Santenay
The day begins with a morning cruise to Santenay, followed by lunch in the charming town of Beaune. In the afternoon, we visit the 15th-century charity hospital of Beaune and enjoy some free time for shopping. The day concludes with a delightful dinner onboard.
Thursday, Day 6 Santenay to St-Léger-sur-Dheune
On the morning of your journey, you’ll visit the 14th-century private château of Germolles, followed by a delightful lunch on board. In the afternoon, enjoy a serene cruise to Saint Léger sur Dheune. The day concludes with a memorable farewell dinner on board.
Friday, Day 7 St-Léger-sur-Dheune
After breakfast, guests are transferred by private chauffeured minibus back to Paris.
